Geocaching: Now with More than 2 Million Active Geocaches

This Week...

2 Million Active Geocaches and Counting

Celebrating 2 Million Active GeocachesIn a steady climb, emphasizing quality and not quantity, Geocaching reached a major milestone last week. We published the 2 millionth active geocache at approximately 5:11am Seattle time on February 28. The milestone geocache is hidden near Alice Springs, Australia.

To celebrate this milestone, more than two dozen Geocaching souvenirs from regions and countries around the world are being released. Collecting the digital postcards is as easy as logging a "Found it" or "Attended" in an area that has a corresponding souvenir. Look at the collection of new souvenirs and details on their release. You can also check out all the previously released souvenirs here.

Learn more about the road to the 2 Millionth Geocache. Share the facts, stats and little known geocaching gems with the Celebrating 2 Million Infographic and the videos 2 Million Geocaches in 1 Minute and Travel Bug® Travels.

Congratulations to all those who hide geocaches and those who find them. Keep the congratulations going! Thank a geocacher for their hide by sending them this new "Thank You to the Geocache Hiders" video.
